因为你已经指挥别人惯了你不喜欢被指挥的。那我们出家就是要改变这个习惯。刚出家师父叫你东你就东,叫你西就西。叫你起来就起来,叫你睡觉就睡觉。你都会说打个电话都要问师父,不能随便打。为什么要这样做?把你的习惯改掉。那种自己自私,这种以为对的想法改掉。改掉,很久了一两年了,然后他才教你学佛。学佛学什么?帮助众生。每天帮人家扫水沟,帮人家洗衣服,帮人家弄饭,像我以前,有八个出家人,这个吃稀饭,那个吃白饭,这个用这个筷子,那个用那个筷子,那个加那个牛奶,我都要弄好。比女佣人更辛苦。但是很快乐,因为我在修行。

以前我做老板,我很会赚钱的。

出家以后,扫地板,清水沟,每天人家住完房间以后,我们出家人有人来住,我要帮他扫地,弄马桶,枕头要换。我想说我太快乐了。我能够出家,快乐,服务别人。然后服务到师父认为你这个人很快乐,每天叫你扫水沟,我以前擦地板,要擦得亮亮的。因为师父早上做早课赤脚,地上不能有一点灰尘。然后这样我们可以修福报。而且可以消除我的想法。不会跟人家吵架。叫你东就东,叫你西就西。师父说,你已经听话了,他才叫你看佛经。你才会听佛陀的话。不然,你会用自己的想法;(批评佛经,念一念,这本这么难念,这个可能不是佛讲的这样,楞严咒很难背,楞严经不是佛讲的等等)又有人开始骂。

人家就会说,那个好,那个不好。你这样就会伤害佛教,这个就是佛教讲的。分别执着。
对一个人有自己的想法的时候,他就会认为那个对,那个错。然后开始写书。写说这个对,那个错。批评佛教。伤害佛教。
所以我想各位我这样讲的意思是说,我们在印尼的华人还有一点福报,不会缺钱,对不对。还好吧。赚钱容易,因为印尼人懒惰,对不对。华人,人家还在睡觉,他还在赚。他在用脑筋赚。所以,有一点福报。但是问题有一点福报,也会不好,会骄傲。会听自己的。

各位一定要找一个师父。这个师父最好嚴一点。你不听话,啪,这样。把你打下去,不然,你不会进步的,你会讲,我都这么伟大赚钱,我还听你的?师父你要听我的。你对我好一点,我红包就给你。
所以我们秀英跟我说,(师父你、你都不笑的、我要去找别人了。别人师父对我很好。不定时打电话给我。还叫我来参加法会,你都不找我的。)
我说你这个东西不一样,重点是你要找一个你愿意听话的师父。你可以解脱的。不是听你的。各位这个观念你一定要弄清楚。不然你佛教的事情办很多,没办法解脱,没意义。所以你要修行,不容易的。

所以有些人要找我出家,我问他你去哪里。他说我不要,你还找我出家?你先去做那个,你要听话。我又不是叫你做坏事。不喜欢。。。我换地方。好。。。你就换师父,再换吧。

在佛教里面,很可怕的。不能换师父的。如果你已经正式拜了这个师父做师父,不能换师父的,换了你要下地狱的。所以你要拜师父要很小心,要好好观察这个师父,并不是他出名。
你要去皈依一个师父,你要好好观察他。他真的有道德,有慈悲,正知正见,不贪财,不好色,你要看清楚。然后,所以我来皈依这位师父。你就要听他的。这个师父如果坏,你听他的当然你会伤害,所以你要观察过,你才可以听。你不观察过,你听他的,他天天跟你要钱,叫你弄。。。你就完蛋了。你不伤害很大吗?
所以学佛要各位要很冷静,看佛经,什么是对,什么是错,可以。

然后,你要去拜师父。因为你不拜师父,你怎么解脱?出家人不去拜到师父,没有拜到本师释迦牟尼佛,他都不能證得阿罗汉。没有人自己证阿罗汉,除了佛陀。

每个人都因为有师父,然后,师父可以拜好几个,都没关系。
一个好的师父,他不会叫你不要去拜别的师父的。只要那个师父真的很慈悲,有他的道德,你赶快去拜。这个就是《善财童子五十三参》对不对。善财童子要成佛,所以文殊菩萨叫他要拜很多的师父。这样你才可以成佛。但是一个师父推荐一个师父,一个师父推荐一个师父,因为这些真正的菩萨,有发菩提心的正知正见,他不但不会嫉妒,他还知道哪个师父修得好。不是你自己去挑的。是这个好的师父会推荐你去拜更好的师父。

海涛法师 随手布施累福报

这个世间一切都是变化无常,没有办法主宰。就像你的身体生下来就开始苦。。到死。不吃饭也不行,不喝水也不行。太冷也不行,太热也不行。真是如此。为什么缅甸这么多人要出家?为什么要出家?因为生命是苦。你叫他做皇帝,他也不要。为什么?

那些东西,那只是一种满足,一种欲望,感受,权利。真正要利益众生就发菩提心。任何生命做乞丐发菩提心也都在利益众生。
不见得要有钱,不见得要有地位。所以佛陀说世间极苦。
所以不要在这世间找快乐。
任何快乐的开始都以痛苦做结束。
你所认为的快乐,都是痛苦的开始。
各位好好想这一句话。
抽烟的人认为抽烟是快乐,
吸毒的人认为吸毒是快乐,
喝酒的人认为喝酒是快乐,
谈恋爱的人认为谈恋爱是快乐。
谈恋爱如果是快乐,那为什么会有情杀?为什么有自杀?

任何东西都有副作用。
所以佛陀告诉你世间极苦。
希望大家放下世间的执着。
你现在做树神做山神很大,
做大鬼神很大,那永远还在轮回。你现在永远做天神,享受百千万亿的快乐,娶一万个老婆,但是你福报享尽了,直接就堕落饿鬼道,畜生道。
所以所谓的快乐只是一个假象。
暂时的现象这样而已。
各位这个世间真是如此,你要好好想一想。
整个缅甸的钱都给你,整个缅甸的珠宝都给你,又怎么样?
不用上厕所吗?不用生老病死吗?
那只是一个感觉,感受,我有钱,很多人在追求爱情,全世界的男人女人都爱你又如何?
那只是一个感觉而已。
我有人爱,我好像有一点骄傲。
事实上还在生老病死。
所以了解如此,希望大家放下执着,求生净土。

什么是菩萨?
告诉人家这个道理,希望大家不要执着。
这个世间是来修行,来还债的,来消业障的,来累积功德的,来结缘的,结善缘的。
不要执着这世间的一切。
所以观音寺,为什么要观音菩萨?这个世间苦难。。
众生就是众死。。所有众生。。
哪怕你是皇帝,哪怕你是美女,帅哥,影星,各位不要羡慕那些报纸上所现出来的每一个人,再过二,三十年老的老,死的死,癌症的癌症。
你越出名,你越有权力,你越有钱,下的地狱越深。
为什么?有就会搞怪。
没钱还不会做坏事。
你有权力了,你有钱了,你开始做坏事了。
就像一个女人长得漂亮,
不知道跟几个男人睡过。
就像一个男人长得自己认为英俊,性感,他乱搞男女关系。
你一定要要下地狱的。
这些东西短短的欲望快乐,但是无量的痛苦。
这一点各位要忏悔。
年轻人还不懂忏悔,老人都会忏悔。快死了,不忏悔不行。
现在痛苦开始来了,业报已经生在自己儿女,自己身体身上了。
年轻做什么事,老就什么业报。
这是一定的。

放下执着
发菩提心
求生净土
乘愿再来
廣度众生

Tendencies (excerpt) – His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

“Non virtuous actions have 3 types of effects according to Lord Buddha.
1)Ripened effect
2)Effect similar to the cause
3)Environmental Effect
So all non virtuous actions created from contaminated mind, contaminated mind means mind that thinks of oneself more important than the other. & all your actions are based on myself as opposed to others. That is contaminated mind. So contaminated mind creates contaminated actions, so contaminate actions have 3 types of effects. “
Ripened effect is the actions they ripened and they give us the effect. Example: if we kill, if we harm our parents, if we create schism, and it damages many people, example we talk negative things between 2 governments and they go to war, they kill millions of people, schism. If we talk and act in such a way that creates harm and damage to people in such an intense way, the ripened effect will be we take rebirth, the most severe is hell. One of the 8 hells. The next severest is to take rebirth as a spirit, or hungry ghost, the next severest will be as an animal.
So the immediate ripened effect, example killing.
Will be the 3 lower realms.
How we kill, the motivation whether we regret, the manner, on purpose or not, all effects how we take rebirth. Immediate ripened effect.
Second:
Effect similar to cause means what? Even after we have experienced number one the ripening effect, traces of that inclination will remain. Let me explain.
If we have killed, we take rebirth in hell, but we take rebirth in hells, to purify the karma of killing, but the intent to kill is not purified. The mind is still there.
So when we take rebirth again, we will be inclined to kill again and take rebirth in negative states of birth again and again. So what happens is: now the first karma is instant ripening of the result of the karma. Second is you still have to suffer the tendencies or the effects similar to the cause. So the very reason you went to hell was for killing, but when you come out of hell, you still want to kill. So what happens is: you still want to harm. Example: tigers. When they die, they collect tremendous negative karma for killing other sentient beings and creating fear, so when they reincarnate again, they will still have the tendency to kill.
Once they go down, they go down very low, that’s why some kids when you see them, they love to kill animals. They enjoy, they squeal! Some they can’t take it. They can’t take it at all, it’s very difficult for them. That’s the tendency resembling the original cause. They will suffer from that.
What’s the big deal about that? Because the tendency will make you do it again, even if you are in a new environment. So if you wipe your slate clean, and you start killing again. What’s the point? “
Another example that is stated in the text is:

If we always have sexual misconduct, we cheat on our partners, we lie to our partners, we use our partners for wrong things, or we do the wrong things with our partners that are wrong. If we have sexual misconduct, taking rebirth in the 3 lower realms is a given. And the ripening effect will be loneliness, cannot close our business deal, people we love don’t love us back, people create violence towards us. People want to harm us. People want to damage us. So when we have sexual misconduct, negative actions such as harm, damage, violence will come our way. That’s one, that’s what it says.

And even after you had purify your sexual misconduct negative karma, the effect similar to the cause, will ripen which is tendency. What is that? Let’s say that due to sexual misconduct, you took rebirth as an animal. After you take rebirth as an animal, when you come out, you’re human again, you will still have the tendency to not be true to the one you promised. So what happens? You create a lot of pain in their minds. And you know what happens is; this is your tendency. You will have strong attachment to other partners. What does that mean? You cannot be true. So that means you can be with one person, but you will be looking at another one and another one and another one … Plotting how to get them, plotting how to date them, plotting how to get close to them, plotting how to get intimate with them while you’re with that person.
Even if you don’t want to and you know it’s wrong, but you will keep doing that because that’s a residual tendency left which is in fact similar to the cause. Why? You didn’t hold onto your sexual misconduct vows.
So when you don’t hold onto your sexual misconduct vows, you have the ripening effect, which is the taking of rebirth in the 3 lower realms depending on situation.
Secondary, is, that even when you come out with a clean slate, the karma is clean, but the tendency is not. So the tendency is not clean, even if you want to go straight, you want to be with one person, one girl, one boy, one relationship, you cannot.
You will cheat, and lie, and cheat and lie, hurt your children, hurt your friends, hurt your neighbors, break the trust of your friends, and have a lot of enemies and people coming and beat you up, and they want to knock you over, they want to hurt you. Why?
Cause you can’t control yourself.
Why can’t you?
Cause tendency is there still. 
So holding onto the sexual misconduct vows are very important according to Lord Buddha, why? He is giving you knowledge. 
That’s why ancient cultures, truth is truth, never mind Buddhism. Truth is truth. That’s why ancient cultures like China, India, all these great cultures, very advanced, they are very strong about moral ethics.
If you have one person, you stay with one person. We don’t cheat, we don’t do all kinds of things, why?
They know that hurts people.
So Buddha goes one step further. The karma is very strong.
Third:
Environmental effect:
So I had explained to you the direct effect, the effect resembling the cause(the tendency not being able to get rid of it, the tendencies will grow)& what’s the horrible thing is; once you indulge in the tendencies, you will replenish that negative karma, clean slate becomes dirty again. So it’s like you filled up your petrol to hell, your car with petrol again, full tank. Think about it. So on the way to hell, your petrol keeps refilling. Why? Tendency similar to the cause is there.
So some people do retreats, they do retreat after retreat, they still can’t control their mouths. They still throw BF.
They still want power, they still want to be the top, they’re still greedy, why?
Maybe that karma for that action is purified, but the tendency is still there. So how to cut the tendency, we must hold our vows.
People say it’s very hard, why tell me why it’s hard, I know it’s hard, if you understand, easier to attack it.
This is Mind teaching by Lord Buddha by the way. “

“SNAKES, ROOSTERS & PIGS (Part 3)” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

A short excerpt from His Eminence teachings in Video 3:

“It’s not the actions that make it negative. It’s the intent. It’s not the intent that makes it negative, it’s the habituation from which the intent arises.”

“You don’t have the habituation to keep your intent real & alive. That’s why habituation is very powerful. Habituation arises from holding your vows. The ability to hold your vows is a collection of merits that you have. The collection of merits helps you to keep the vows to get you to higher attainments. The purification of your negative karma stops you from breaking your vows. How strong your purification is, helps you to keep your ethics, morality and vows. And how strong you keep your vows, creates the actual re-habituation of what you have been doing for many times.
So if you always happily say I broke my vows, then happily be unhappy. Keep being happy with unhappy. So if you’re unhappy with yourself, keep breaking promises, keep breaking your vows, keep breaking your commitments, keep disturbing and destroying your samaya, keep doing it. Why? You’re happy being unhappy. Don’t you see people always depressed? Always unsuccessful? Things are going wrong? They’re always getting angry, can’t move, can’t transform, they’re stuck in their own little selfish world. Year after year after year and they never ever change. And they go on and on in their narrow little self grasping worlds.
Why? They don’t keep their vows. They don’t do purification practices to allow them to keep their vows. It’s all connected. So when you hold your vows, they’re not a prison.
Listen carefully. When you hold your vows, Pratimoksha, self liberation vows such as Refuge, Bodhichitta and Tantric vows, when you do hold your vows, rather than being put into prison and not allowing yourself to do things you like, you are releasing yourself from prison. Because you create the actual causes for yourself to enjoy the object in which you are attached to without accruing negative karma and hence you become Mukpo…
How do you check if your actions are good or not? You look at the people around you, are you affecting their lives? Are you changing their attitudes? Are you giving them a new perspective? Are you giving them hope? Do they leave you with knowledge, happiness and wisdom? If they are leaving you with knowledge happiness and wisdom, then you are giving them more hope, love and care, then whatever you’re doing, your methods are working. Whether you’re jumping up and down at them, or you’re sitting there giving them a massage, it doesn’t matter cause your actions don’t matter anymore. It’s your intent. And that’s what Mukpo is all about. He doesn’t operate from our reality, he operates from a reality of a non grasping mind. It’s very different and hence his actions are different.”
